Craig
CRM Executive

What does my average day look like?

For my role as a CRM Executive I am in charge of scheduling all of Wowcher’s and Living Social’s Emails, App Pushes, Web Pushes and our Social Media posts. My average day is working closely with my very friendly team and the analysts to make sure that all emails and pushes are delivered on time and to the correct audiences every day of the week. It is a very time critical and important role at Wowcher but is very very rewarding.

Tell us about a recent project you’ve worked on and what went well/ what was it for?

Not so much of a project but a busy time for the Marketing/ CRM Department (and everyone in the organisation) was Black Friday and the lead up to Christmas. As this is Wowcher and Living Social’s biggest and busiest time of the year, extra emails and pushes were organised to maximize the organisations reach to our customers. The CRM team (and the whole organisation) really came together and helped each other out whether that be helping with extra emails or pushes. It really showed me that Wowcher employees really look out for each other and don’t let individuals struggle alone. There were many times over those weeks my manager would give me a hand and vice versa. Looking back, although it was a very busy and sometimes stressful time it was very very rewarding and I personally learnt a lot.

How would you describe working at Wowcher/ the culture?

As someone who has worked in different offices doing different roles I can safely say that Wowcher is the most welcoming office I’ve encountered in my professional career. Very early on I started to meet very friendly people from other teams. I’d say that Wowcher is also very competitive in the best possible way - never have I seen people take table football and table tennis so seriously. Another positive is that every Thursday the drinks and snacks trolley goes around the office, which everyone really appreciates. At the end of the month there is an opportunity for colleagues to go downstairs and have a few drinks after work; this is a fantastic way to get to know people and understand what they do.

What makes you want to stay at the business?

The friendly atmosphere! You’ll make great friends who motivate and support you to succeed. I also learn so much from my department. I am always able to ask any of the managers questions and they are more then willing to help me. The best way I’d describe working at Wowcher is “work hard….play hard”

What does your average day look like?

At work, I focus on application improvements/upgrade projects and monitoring the Wowcher applications. I collaborate with development and the testing team for automation and to implement better, defect-free solutions. Usually, I log off by 6 pm and relax with my family.

Tell us about a recent project you’ve worked on and what went well/ what was it for?

A recent project that I have worked on is the terraform upgrade. It is an interesting project and great experience to me. This project is related to upgrading the Wowcher site infrastructures (servers and services). The aim is to reduce the cloud monthly billing to Wowcher and improve cloud security.

Tell us about a nice work encounter you’ve had with someone from another team and what was that for?

I have nice experience with many team members. I work with Sanjay and Anthony from the development team often. We have great discussions to fix any application related issues and formulate improvements.

How would you describe working at Wowcher/ the culture?

Everyone is so friendly - it is one of the best things! I also feel appreciated by my manager, which is great for motivation.

EU Launch Manager

What does your average day look like?

Every day is different when you are launching a new business!

Tell us about a recent project you’ve worked on and what went well/ what was it for?

I am fully dedicated to the EU project. Seeing the huge success in the UK, the Executive Team thought that would be great to expand Wowcher to Europe and here we are, making sure we offer our customers the coolest and cheapest products in the European markets. We have started with 3 countries (Spain, Belgium and Poland) but there will be more to come in the future!

Tell us about a nice work encounter you’ve had with someone from another team and what was that for?

Luckily for me, I went downstairs one day, and from a casual chat with Kirsty, we ended up selling really cool toys that were our top sellers in Christmas.

What do you look forward to at work?

To growing the EU business massively.

How would you describe working at Wowcher/ the culture?

It is a young, friendly and fun culture I would say.

Talk us through your experience working for Wowcher?

It has only been 6 months but it actually feels like much longer! Thanks to the nature of this project I have been involved in many different areas of the business which has been great learning experience so far.

What makes you want to stay at the business?

The people, growth & learning opportunities, and flexibility.

What does your average day look like?

Every day is different! But mostly I have a general structure of coming in, making a coffee (and getting some breakfast on a Thursday), check over emails, speak to merchants, sort out contracts, sourcing new products, work on a group focus for that week. On Thursday's we all present our 'deal of the week' (whoever wins gets a little prize like a duvet day) and enjoy the drinks trolley that comes round at 4!

At the end of the month we have 'All Bar Wowcher', where everyone gets together in the basement kitchen. It's a really nice opportunity to get to know people from other teams who you usually only ever speak to online, in a more informal environment too!

How would you describe working at Wowcher/ the culture?

VERY social! On my second day we all went out on a team night out curling and bowling, and most Thursdays there's something going on after work. Everyone is very friendly and made me feel so welcome from the get go.

What makes you want to stay at the business?

The people! It's a great team and everyone likes to have a good time together. The workload means I'm never bored and always have something to be getting on with, so the day goes really quickly! The benefits and incentives are also amazing e.g. All Bar Wowcher, Wellness Wednesdays. You have the opportunity to win great prizes too - after only 3 months I have won a years unlimited Odeon cinema ticket and a free holiday to the Maldives!

Talk us through your experience working for Wowcher?

Well, where do I start... I started working at Wowcher in March 2020. A week later COVID hit and like everyone around that time I didn't know what was around the corner for me. Fast forward a year and 9 months, I've now become a senior Account Manager and been fast-tracked to becoming a Team Leader. One of the most important things to me was progress and this is something Wowcher definitely offers.

Hannah
Regional Sales Manager

What does your average day look like?

My day starts with a team meeting. It's a good time for us to all catch up and chat now we don't see each other every day with the new hybrid working scheme. From there, it's a mix of 1-2-1s, catching up with the analysis team to see what our schedule of deals look like for the week, monitoring how the region is trading and what content gaps we need to fill to keep our subscribers engaged.

Tell us about a recent project you’ve worked on and what went well/ what was it for?

During COVID, local businesses shut and the local sales team had to retrain and go out and think about what our subscribers were wanting to during lockdown. As a result, in spring 2021 when the U.K. started to unlock we had to think about how we reintroduce our subscribers and merchants to local deals again. So we were tasked with re-launching and our campaign #backwithawow was launched. It was brilliant to spend time working with key members from other departments across the business to get this off the ground as well as presenting to the board for feedback before we launched.

Tell us about a nice work encounter you’ve had with someone from another team and what was that for?

As I am regional based I don't get to see a lot of other teams every day, however, the world of Slack and Zoom have helped us all connect remotely and I've never met another colleague at Wowcher who isn't willing to go above and beyond to help one another.

What do you look forward to at work?

I think the key thing here is that I never don’t enjoy coming to work. But if I was to highlight one thing, of course it has to be the team. There isn't a day where we aren't all laughing, they genuinely make it feel like you’re not at work.

How would you describe working at Wowcher/ the culture?

Lots of fun! Yes I know you're probably thinking who calls work fun but it is. No day is the same, HR are always introducing new things, such a Wowcher Wellness Wednesdays (massages at work), All Bar Wowcher (drinks in the evening) & 2 parties a year.

Talk us through your experience working for Wowcher?

I started Wowcher as a graduate back in 2013, not really knowing what I wanted to do career-wise (I'm sure any graduate can relate to that feeling). I remember I accepted the role as I had lots of fun in my interview and I thought if an interview can be that fun I'm sure the job will be too - I was correct! I was initially based in the Manchester office looking after our Liverpool merchants and subscribers. A few years on I moved in to a field sales position looking after Yorkshire, where I spent more time seeing clients face-to-face. I started coming in to the office more to support the team and was asked to step up to a Team Leader position for Team North. After a successful run as Team Leader and a whole load of COVID restrictions later, I was promoted to Regional Sales Manager, moving over to the Midlands Sales Team. This was a huge challenge for me, not only taking over a region I had limited knowledge of, but also a team I'd never worked with before - it was great step for me in my career and I'm so glad I took the leap! During my first year in management in 2021, I won Manager of the Year at our company-wide summer conference (something I still can't believe). I’ve really enjoyed my journey so far and can’t wait to see what the future holds for the team and I.

What makes you want to stay at the business?

I feel really lucky to have a team around me that not only believes in me but believes in each other. Everyone really does want to overachieve and be the best they can be! I think it's a really unique and special environment that would be impossible to replicate elsewhere. Having started in the business as a graduate and given the opportunities I have to progress, I now want to give the same opportunities to my team and help them achieve their goals together.

What does your average day look like?

I look forward to getting into the office in the mornings for a coffee with colleagues, who I now consider friends. There is rarely a time where there isn’t something going on, whether its football after work or a darts tournament in the basement.

Wowcher is really passionate about promoting staff morale and are known for throwing the best parties!

Wowcher is a large company with lots of different teams made up of incredibly knowledgeable and talented colleagues. Everyone is keen to share their expertise and management are always visible, actively involved and eager to support employee progression. I feel comfortable with my colleagues and the Monday dread is a distant memory.
